Are you the one we are looking for? At VIA Amsterdam we are looking for someone who is passionate about all parts of hospitality. Your talents are not limited to working in one department but many. You are a quick learner and think in solutions; if there’s an obstacle in your path you jump over it, if your road it blocked you find another route, you see a challenge and face it head on. You are focussed on exceeding guests’ expectations with your quick thinking while keeping company policies in mind.  

About us:
Via Amsterdam opened its doors in September 2017. It is a young hostel with 816 beds and a 90’s vibe with a twist. Our accommodation includes: en-suite bathrooms in every room; guest laundry facilities; a guest kitchen and a cinema room.  Home to ‘The Dude’ bar and restaurant, we pride ourselves on having the best burgers in town as well as hosting some awesome events such as our ‘Keep the Music (A)live’ open mic night and ‘Viamibo’ party every Friday. 
Our urban playground is found near the student campus Diemen Zuid. Just 12 minutes from Amsterdam Central with Metro 53 and 16 minutes from Schipol airport with the train. Our transport links appeal to a wide variety of tourists; from business travelers to backpackers, we ensure everyone is welcomed with a smile.

Functie eisen Duty Manager:

As a Duty Manager at VIA hostels you are a part of the Front of House team working together to ensure that guest expectations are exceeded. You work together with the Front of House Manager to bring the team to the next level with your energetic attitude to motivate; having said that, your flexibility reaches out to other departments with the same enthusiasm. You are capable of thinking outside of the box to get any job done. You remain calm in stressful situations and adapt with creative problem solving. As a representative of the company you notice the small details ensuring the image is kept up to standards with its policies and guidelines.

Our ideal candidate would:
  • Have previous Front Office, Duty Management and Food & Beverage experience
  • Have an excellent level of written and spoken English + 1 other language
  • Be flexible with their work schedule and responsibilities
  • Maintain a professional attitude towards their work
  • Be competent in administration and IT
  • Demonstrate good communication skills with colleagues and guests
  • Keep a friendly and relaxed demeanor when dealing with guest enquiries
  • Create a safe and secure environment for guests and employees
  • Have an eye for detail
