Mercure Amsterdam City is looking for team members for our General Services department!
 
Are you the reliable and enthusiastic colleague we are looking for? Are you able to do physical and heavy work? And do you make everything you clean shine again? Then we have the perfect new challenge for you! With 368 rooms, 2 restaurants, a spacious terrace, a beautiful bar and 12 meeting rooms, we could use some help!
 
As a General Services employee, you make an important contribution to the first impression of Mercure Hotel Amsterdam City! You will ensure that our guests receive the highest quality and best service. Your main task as Houseman are related to your fellow colleagues and our guests. Together with your colleagues you ensure that everything in and around the hotel is perfectly clean and in good condition 24 hours a day. You will be called in for all kinds of requests from guests and where necessary you will identify problems and solve them in consultation with the manager on duty. A flexible work ethic is important in this role, since no day is the same in hospitality.
 
What will your main tasks be in this position?
  • Keeping general and staff areas clean (dusting, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning etc.);
  • Noticing defects / shortages and passing them on to the relevant colleague;
  • Simple technical repairs (Performing simple technical actions, such as replacing broken lamps).
  • Replenish hotel linens in linen closets on assigned floors;
  • Assisting with the (re)design of spaces and internal relocations;
  • Follow up with various guest requests;
  • Cleaning of a hotel room on request in the absence of the housekeeping department.

Who are we looking for?
  • You live within a radius of 30 kilometers around Amsterdam
  • You are able to work independently;
  • You are flexible (available for all shifts, see explanation below)
  • You are able to perform physical work (walking stairs, lifting things up etc.);
  • You can read and speak English, Dutch would be a plus.
  • Has a legal work permit to work in The Netherlands;
 
We work with morning shifts, day shifts, evening shifts, and nightshifts. You have to be flexible and also available in weekends and on public holidays. Everyone feels best at different moments, we take this into account and preferences can be expressed.
