Omschrijving vacature Sales Manager:

Under the direction of the General Manager, and guidance from the Area Director of Business Transient Sales, the Sales Manager provides strategic and tactical leadership to the hotel’s sales team. You are primarily responsible for leading and directing all sales efforts and strategies to meet and exceed the hotel’s sales targets across all Corporate, Group/Citywides/Tour, FIT/Wholesale, Consortia and Government sectors. The Sales Manager leads by example, is very active and well known in the market. The Sales Manager owns a personal sales target as well the overall hotel sales targets for the above segments and owns, executes and drives the hotel’s annual sales plan and required sales strategies covering all market segments above. You ensure full alignment with the hotel’s annual budget at all times.

  • Responsible for maximizing and increasing the occupancy and average rate of all above business segments whilst pushing the hotel to maintain the highest service delivery to all guests
  • Continually reviews and works with the Area Director of Business Transient Sales and the General Manager on the necessary strategies and actions to improve the hotel’s business mix
  • Ability to research, identify, qualify, target and secure new business. Has a focus on driving new higher revenue and profitable business to the hotel
  • Constantly strives for improvement and achieves and exceeds targets
  • Drives the positive sales culture within the hotel, timely email follow up to client and all activity traced. Maintains regular and required contact with all clients via sales calls, phone calls, emails, quarterly reviews, presentations, sales trips etc.
  • Drives and provides significant input for the hotels sales budget and business planning process
  • Experience of managing hotel budgets, ensuring all spend is accurately accounted for and no overspend
  • Maintains a solid knowledge of the hotel’s comp set and their activities
  • Owns the market intelligence and feeds the hotel management with regular and relevant updates, creates targeted activities per account to drive share
  • Positively sells the brand and positions YOTEL’s global portfolio of hotels with clients. Maximises every opportunity to cross sell across the group
  • Proactively leads the hotel’s/YOTEL brand’s participation in trade shows, familiarization trips, client entertainment and industry events.
  • Proactively networks and builds strong business relations for the hotel with clients, industry partners i.e. tourist offices and airlines and other key local organizations
  • Is cost astute and ensures commitment to operational efficiency at all times
  • Communicates, demonstrates and embodies the company culture, vision, values and brand standards in all sales and marketing activities
  • Responsible for accurate and timely weekly/monthly sales reports as set by the business
  • Ensures CRM is correctly used and updated for the hotel
  • Performs all other tasks as requested by the General Manager and those from Area Director of Business Transient Sales
  • Closely assists General Manager/HQ PR teams and Social Media agency to identify and execute upon appropriate client marketing initiatives/brand opportunities.

Functie eisen Sales Manager:

Educational Qualification
  • College degree in hotel management, hospitality or related field
  • Microsoft Office suite – advanced level user
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years hotel industry experience within sales with a deep knowledge of the market and the major segments
Technical Competencies
  • Ability to solicit, qualify and secure new business in addition to growing existing accounts
  • Ability to identify key market patterns and trends and lead change as needed to protect/grow customer share
  • Strong influencing, negotiating and problem solving skills
  • Able to identify and target Decision Makers
  • Able to build positive and strong client relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Proven ability in developing and successfully executing multi-level sales strategies
  • Highly flexible with ability to travel frequently
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English (additional languages would be beneficial)
  • Strong team player who thrives working in a fast paced, dynamic sales culture
  • Ambitious, results and target-oriented individual, a self-starter, committed to getting the job done
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritise, multi task and manage their time and team resources effectively

  • Presents a professional and polished image to customers/external contacts
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint as a minimum
  • Competent in report writing (findings, conclusions and recommendations) for management/owners
  • Maintains the highest ethical standards ensuring absolute discretion with company sensitive information
  • Knowledge of various systems such as Opera, Lanyon, Agency360, Duetto etc is beneficial
  • Prior working experience of Sales Force/CRM is essential
Previous experience in a design led/independent hotel/entrepreneurial environment is preferred
