Are you aspiring to become a manager? You're in the perfect place! Hotel The Craftsmen is an award-winning 14-room boutique hotel located in Amsterdam's city center. We are on the lookout for a driven and dedicated individual who thrives in a role blending operational expertise with management for 32 to 38 hours a week.

Our hotel, situated on Singel 83 in a historic building, is full of charm and personality. It provides our guests with a genuine Dutch experience. Each of our 14 rooms showcases a different craft of Dutch history from the Woodworker to The Boat Builder or Airplane Builder, making every stay special. 

Our boutique hotel belongs to the luxury segment, we are currently ranked as the best hotel in Amsterdam according to TripAdvisor’s travelers.. We have high standards trying to exceed all our guests' expectations. The hotel is housed in a historical, monumental building offering a blend of unique room designs, luxurious amenities, and, most importantly, exceptional personalized service provided by our vibrant and motivated young team.

We need someone experienced to lead our daily routine. This includes managing the front office, overseeing F&B operations and supervising housekeeping. In this crucial position, you'll ensure smooth operations every day, supporting our general manager or leading in their absence.

As our Assistant General Manager, you will:

• Lead by example: Take an active role in daily operations, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment. Inspire the team with your dedication and enthusiasm, setting the standard for exceptional service.
• Ensure seamless property operations: Manage daily operations and ensure upholding of company policies. Foster a collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork, quickly addressing operational issues, and maintaining a well-organized workspace.
• Team management: You are the vital link between all team members, overseeing schedules, tracking their progress within the company, and organizing team social events. 
• Lead the front desk with expertise: Serve as the welcoming face of the reception area, managing our property management system, Mews. Coordinate smooth and efficient check-ins and check-outs, ensuring every guest feels valued and well cared for.
• Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills: Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, providing thoughtful solutions that enhance customer satisfaction. Your communication and people skills will contribute to a welcoming and positive atmosphere.
• Manage inventory and orders: Oversee inventory management, ensuring that supplies are adequately stocked and orders are processed accurately.

To be considered, you should have:

• Either experience as a (duty) manager in a similar management role within the hospitality industry or recently graduated from a management school.
• Diploma: degree in hospitality (preferred) or related field.
• Exceptional customer service skills and a passion for exceeding guest expectations.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities.
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays, in bustling Amsterdam.
• Residence in Amsterdam.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken (Dutch is not necessarily required)
• A good sense of humor ;)

Bonus points for:

• Familiarity with Mews or similar hospitality management software.
• Multilingual proficiency
