Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel & Conference Center is looking for a Groups, Meetings & Events Manager who takes ownership of the full group journey and connects people across the hotel.

With 417 guest rooms and 32 meeting and event spaces, Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel & Conference Center is one of the largest conference hotels in the region, known for reliability, scale and genuine hospitality.

Your role

As Groups, Meetings & Events Manager, you are responsible for all group enquiries from beginning to end. From the moment an enquiry comes in, your team takes ownership to convert the business, secure revenue and deliver a well‑planned and successful event.

You lead and guide your team throughout the full process:

  • Enquiry handling and follow‑up

  • Conversion of enquiries into confirmed business

  • Commercial alignment and pricing while working closely with Proactive Sales and Revenue Management

  • Detailed planning and coordination of confirmed groups and events

  • Close follow‑up until successful execution

You ensure that enquiries are converted efficiently and profitably, while maintaining strong client relationships and high service standards.

You report directly to the Director of Sales & Events.

Working together – the spin in the web

In this role, you are truly the connecting link within the hotel.

You work closely with:

  • Commercial teams, such as Proactive Sales and Revenue Management, to align strategy, pricing and opportunities

  • Operational departments, including Banqueting, Front Office and other hotel teams, to ensure smooth execution

  • Your own Groups, Meetings & Events team, guiding them through detailed planning and coordination

You understand that success depends on collaboration. You know how to build, maintain and strengthen relationships across all departments and ensure everyone is aligned towards the same goal.

Leadership & team management

You are the manager of the Groups, Meetings & Events team and provide structure, direction and support.

You:

  • Coach and guide the team throughout the full group lifecycle

  • Keep overview of all enquiries, deadlines and confirmed business

  • Ensure planning is accurate, detailed and clearly communicated

  • Support your team during busy periods or complex enquiries

  • Create clarity around priorities and responsibilities

  • Foster a positive, collaborative and accountable team culture

Planning, quality & continuous improvement

Once business is confirmed, your team is responsible for the detailed planning. You ensure:

  • High attention to detail and consistency in all planning stages

  • Clear handovers and alignment with operational departments

  • High guest satisfaction and reliable delivery

You also:

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and workflows

  • Think along about how to increase repeat business and long‑term client relationships

  • Share ideas and insights with the Director of Sales & Events

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a relationship‑driven people manager with experience in meetings & events who enjoys coordinating complex processes and working across departments.

You:

  • Have experience in meetings & events within hospitality

  • Bring people management or team‑leading experience

  • Are commercially aware and focused on conversion and results

  • Communicate clearly and confidently with multiple stakeholders

  • Are strong in building and maintaining relationships

  • Keep overview in a busy, detail‑driven environment

  • Enjoy working as the connecting link between teams

To succeed in this role, you:

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Event Management or a related field

  • Have several years of relevant experience in a similar environment

  • Are fluent in English (additional languages are an advantage)

  • Have strong organizational, coordination and interpersonal skills
