For our hotels in Amsterdam and the surrounding area, Leonardo Hotels is looking for an HR Manager (4 days per week) as temporary replacement during maternity leave. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring the continuity of the HR organization in the region and act as a content expert and sparring partner for our General Managers and management teams.
You have a solid foundation in Dutch employment law and the Hospitality Collective Labour Agreement (Horeca cao), and you are able to guide complex HR matters in a practical and legally correct manner. In particular, you take a proactive and advisory role toward management when it comes to absenteeism management and prevention.
What will you be doing?
As an HR Manager, you are responsible for providing HR support to multiple hotels in the Amsterdam region. You work closely with the General Managers and support them with personnel matters, absenteeism cases, and employment law issues. You have an advisory role and ensure that HR processes run accurately and efficiently.
Your main responsibilities include:
Advising management and supervisors on HR policy and the application of Dutch employment law and the Horeca collective labor agreement
Guiding and monitoring absenteeism processes in accordance with the Dutch Gatekeeper Improvement Act (Wet verbetering poortwachter), including 1st and 2nd track reintegration processes
Maintaining contact with external partners such as the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV), occupational health services, or associated specialists
Coordinating absenteeism cases and ensuring correct documentation and timely interventions
Aligning with internal stakeholders such as General Managers and management teams regarding personnel matters
Carefully weighing costs and benefits for the organization when making HR decisions and reintegration routes
Supporting second-line HR administration and reporting
Contributing to a healthy, safe, and professional working environment within the hotels

Leonardo Hotels operates in the Benelux and has 28 hotels. The employees of our Shared Service Office perform tasks related to their discipline for all these hotels. Sales, Marketing, Revenue, Finance, and Human Resources are centralized and work across the Benelux hotels.
A fixed workplace? That’s not how we do things! Employees from these departments regularly visit the various hotels and occasionally work at the Shared Service Office located at Leonardo Hotel Amsterdam Rembrandtpark. No day is the same, making the work dynamic and challenging!
Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced HR professional who stands firmly in your shoes and can carefully and independently manage complex personnel cases.
In addition, you bring:
Demonstrable knowledge of Dutch employment law and the Hospitality Collective Labour Agreement (Horeca cao)
Experience with absence management and reintegration (1st and 2nd track)
Experience working with occupational health services and the UWV
Strong communication skills and the ability to advise management on sensitive cases
Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written
A pragmatic and analytical approach, carefully balancing the interests of both employer and employee
Willingness to travel within the region and to our shared services office
Availability for 4 days per week from 01 June 2026 untill 01 November 2026
Please note that this is a temporary position to cover maternity leave.
You must be employed through our contract, as we do not accept freelance agreements.
