We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven sous chef for our event center and restaurant The Buffet. In this role, you will work in a dynamic hotel environment where no day is the same. With your passion for the kitchen and hospitality, you contribute to an optimal experience for our guests.
As a sous chef, you will lead the kitchen brigade on a daily basis and act as a sparring partner for the head chef. You are responsible for ensuring quality in the kitchen, checking deliveries, and coaching and motivating employees. You know how to inspire a team and take it to the next level.
You will also have the opportunity to showcase your creativity in developing and creating beautiful buffets for a variety of events and parties. Whether it's a large corporate event or a cozy family gathering, you ensure a culinary experience that perfectly matches the guests' wishes.

What can a workday bring you?
You lead (in the absence of the head chef) the entire kitchen brigade, dishwashing, and purchasing that you supervise from the operation;
Coordinating and checking an as efficient and effective preparation process as possible;
You are a sparring partner for the head chef in adjusting buffets/recipes based on market developments;
You ensure the control of the daily deliveries ordered by the head chef and the purchasing department;
Coaching, motivating, and training employees;
You work and strictly control according to HACCP regulations.
What qualities and experience will make us happy?
A completed training as an independent working chef;
Van der Valk-minded: motivated, enthusiastic, no-nonsense mentality, and honest;
A completed vocational training of restaurant chef (level 3/4);
Possession of a SvH master learner diploma is a plus;
Min. 2 years of work experience as a sous chef;
Relevant work experience, especially in banqueting and/or catering;
You have experience in leadership and motivating employees;
Focus on quality and stress-resistant;
You can independently organize, plan, collaborate, and make decisions;
You are culinary creative, flexible (also on holidays), and detail-oriented;
Representative, hospitable, and service-oriented.
