Hotel Concierge and Porter Department

Hotel Concierge and Porter department

Concierge and Porter Roles:

Did you know that the word "concierge" comes from French and originally means "keeper of the candles"? As a concierge and porter, you not only fulfil the role of host or hostess of the hotel, but you also take on many of the core responsibilities of the front office. It is crucial that guests can come to you with a variety of questions, such as advice on the best sushi restaurant or the coolest club in the city.

Tasks of Concierges and Porters

As the face of the hotel, you influence both the first and the last impression of the guests. You greet guests from the moment they arrive and you open the car door for them, to the moment you load their luggage back into the car. You continuously stand at the entrance of the hotel to assist guests with loading and unloading luggage, opening doors, and directing them appropriately. With your extensive knowledge of the area, you can make personal recommendations about local attractions and sights. For those who prefer working at night, there are opportunities as a night porter.

Discover Concierge or Porter jobs

As a concierge or porter, you help guests discover both well-known and hidden gems in the area. Each day brings new challenges: from booking tickets for a museum to organizing a unique day excursion. You play an active role in advising on activities and restaurants, so guests can get the most out of their visit to the city. Generally, the porter stands by the door and the concierge at the reception to provide guests with optimal advice about the area.
