What can you expect?

Sazanka Restaurant is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant where the chefs prepare the most delicious fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes on a hot iron griddle right at your table. Thanks to the intimate setting with shared tables, there is close interaction between the chefs and the guests. At Sazanka, you work together with colleagues from various cultures as part of a team. Top-quality ingredients are paired with an extensive selection of sakes and wines, while you deliver world-class Japanese service.

As a future Teppanyaki Chef, you will follow an intensive training program of 9 to 12 months, including 2 months of training in Japan at Hotel Okura Kobe. During this training program, you will learn from experienced Teppanyaki Chefs, under the guidance of Chef Onodera, and develop your skills in authentic Japanese cooking techniques, hospitality, and culture.

Your main tasks are:

  • Preparation: Prepare high-quality fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes using authentic Japanese cooking techniques;
  • Teppanyaki: Develop your skills in cooking and presenting dishes on the hot iron griddle in front of guests;
  • Guest interaction: Create an engaging and memorable experience by interacting with guests during the preparation of their dishes;
  • Presentation: Ensure high-quality and appealing presentation of dishes while maintaining the standards of Sazanka;
  • Hospitality: Deliver authentic Japanese hospitality and provide guests with a warm and unforgettable experience;
  • Development: Follow the training program and continuously develop your culinary skills, product knowledge, Japanese cooking techniques, and understanding of Japanese culture.

What do we offer?

  • Salary: Group 5: €2.630,29 gross per month based on 38 hours per week;
  • Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit) level and you get a minimum total score of successful in your yearend evaluation;

What are we asking?

Of course, we are first and foremost interested in you and what we as an employer can do for you to provide a great workplace. Nevertheless we expect from you that:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen;
  • A strong passion for Japanese cuisine and culture;
  • Strong social and communication skills;
  • Experience with teppanyaki, knowledge of Japanese culture, or experience as a Chef de Partie is a plus;
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop yourself;
  • A guest-oriented attitude and passion for creating memorable experiences;
  • The flexibility and commitment to complete an intensive training program, including 2 months of training in Japan.
