Sazanka Restaurant is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant where the chefs prepare the most delicious fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes on a hot iron griddle right at your table. Thanks to the intimate setting with shared tables, there is close interaction between the chefs and the guests. At Sazanka, you work together with colleagues from various cultures as part of a team. Top-quality ingredients are paired with an extensive selection of sakes and wines, while you deliver world-class Japanese service.

As a Cook III, you work according to fixed instructions regarding ingredients, recipes, working methods, and visual presentation. The role reports to a subject matter supervisor.

What can you expect?

As a Cook III, you are responsible for preparing and presenting dishes according to recipes and the quality standards of the restaurant. You work with fresh ingredients and various cooking and preparation techniques and ensure that dishes are prepared according to the established presentation requirements. In addition, you are responsible for maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, checking the quality of ingredients and dishes, and identifying opportunities to further improve kitchen processes.

Your main tasks are:

  • Preparation of dishes: Assess ingredients, prepare tools, and cook dishes according to recipes, carrying out quality checks and making adjustments when necessary;
  • Plating: Plate dishes and check that they meet presentation requirements before serving;
  • Cleaning: Clean kitchen and equipment, report irregularities, dispose of waste, and assist with receiving and storing deliveries;
  • Optimization: Monitor usage and make suggestions for improvements to menus, recipes, and cooking methods;
  • Preparation: Work with fresh ingredients and various, including specialized, techniques; adapt to guest preferences and use specific tools;
  • Presentation: Ensure varied and high-quality plating that defines the restaurant’s image;
  • Quality Control: Assess ingredients and dishes based on product knowledge and taste;
  • Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in the kitchen process and make suggestions for improvement, such as recipe adjustments.

You will work according to the applicable working hours and are flexible in your availability. You are also available to work on holidays.

What do we offer?

  • Contract: 1 year with the possibility of extending. We want you to stay!
  • Salary: Group 5. Click HERE for the salary scale;
  • Bonus: 1 week salary when the hotel reaches the budgeted GOP (Gross Operating Profit) level and you get a minimum total score of successful in your yearend evaluation
  • 8% holiday allowance (pro rata);

What are we asking?

  • MBO level 3 work and thinking level;
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an authentic Japanese kitchen;
  • Experience with teppanyaki is a plus;
  • Basic level of English;
  • Knows own strengths and weaknesses, is open to feedback, and strives for ongoing development;
  • Takes initiative, aims for quality, and takes responsibility;
  • Works in an orderly manner, checks own work, and follows procedures;
  • Remains calm under pressure and continues to work purposefully.
