The Supervisor of LuminAir (aka “The Bar above Amsterdam”) is responsible for operating the Bar and supervising the team including waiter/waitress, host/hostesses and shift leaders to create exceptional customer experiences. Main duties include supervising the team and ensuring high levels of service in the bar to deliver an excellent Guest-, and Member experience while controlling consistency, service level and team member satisfaction. This is a key role in the team, especially considering the rooftop bar & terrace, has undergone a full refurbishment, rebranding and repositioning with opening to the public on 30th of June 2023.

 

Our new rooftop bar & terrace LuminAir is an inspiring destination from day to evening in an ever-changeable space: The outside views as well as the interior environment will never be the same twice. LuminAir is a beverage led venue, with world-class mixology, exclusively tailored drinks and presentations based on sky and air elements. The food menu consists of modern Dutch and international bites, finger food and sharing plates, while the Eclipse menu – for (semi) private events from 30 till 300 guests – consists of modern canapés, table snacks, bar bites and cocktail dinners.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

As a Supervisor LuminAir, you will:

 

1. Exceptional Customer Experiences

  • Take ownership of service delivery in your section to provide exceptional customer experiences, anticipating customers’ needs and making sure service sequences are followed consistently and efficiently
  • Know your menus and daily specials in detail, so you and your team can advise customers on dishes, ingredients, portion sizes, beverages and wine pairing options.
  • Make sure that food allergies and dietary requirements are treated with absolute seriousness by all Team Members in your section.
  • Contribute to achieving restaurant revenue targets through upselling and personalized customer recommendations.
  • Communicate effectively with the culinary team and the bar team so that all orders are correct, well-presented and delivered on time.
  • Carry out customer satisfaction checks, taking quick action to improve service and resolve complaints, supporting your team where needed.

 

2. Great Working Environment

  • Support, train and develop your team, creating an inclusive environment where all Team Members can thrive.
  • Deliver informative and motivational shift briefings, sharing helpful updates and feedback.
  • Assign daily work, making sure each Team Member is aware of their responsibilities, and supervising performance during the shift

 

3. Day-To-Day Essentials

  • Make sure that you and your team strictly comply with all regulations and standards, including health, safety and hygiene. 
  • Set up your section for service, and make sure that equipment, guest areas and work areas are kept clean and tidy throughout the shift.
  • Make sure that all transactions are recorded in the POS system accurately at the time of order, that billing is accurate and that cash handling complies with hotel guidelines.
  • Assist in monitoring and restocking inventory. 
  • Give feedback and suggestions to the bar leadership team to improve guest and team member experiences.


Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone with a passion for bars and at least 1 year experience in a similar position or has graduated from the Hotel School with managerial internship in the high-volume restaurant or bar environment.

  • Customer focus, maintaining the highest standards of authentic service to create memorable experiences every time.
  • Excellent communication skills to create connections with diverse customers and share information clearly
  • Great teamwork and a positive attitude 
  • Flexibility and adaptability, able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and focused under pressure.

 

The perfect candidate is fluent in English (Dutch language skills would be an advantage).

USEFUL TO KNOW: 

This position is full-time and will require working weekends and/or evening shifts. Position requirements also include being able to walk and stand for hours and the ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
