Are you a hard-working Commis Chef looking for a new job opportunity? As a Commis Chef, your main responsibility is to prepare the meal ingredients for the Chef de Partie and assist with various kitchen duties. We are looking for a passionate Commis Chef to become part of our dream kitchen team. Inspired by tropical and Latin American cuisine and co-created by nhow Amsterdam, the restaurant Selva is located on the 24^th floor of nhow Amsterdam. This rooftop restaurant is opened since September 2023 and has 140 seats, overlooking the city of Amsterdam. Together with the kitchen team, the culinary creations, complemented by the amazing views, you will create the nhow experiences our guests hope for.

What are you going to do? 

As Selva is inspired by tropical and Latin American cuisine, it is important that our culinary brigade uses traditional and cutting-edge techniques along with seasonal and honest ingredients. The menu consists of traditional Latin American ingredients and recipes such as ceviche, chimichurri, aquachile, picanha, and more. At Selva, we are using a charcoal grill to offer different taste profiles in our menu. As a successful Commis Chef, you demonstrate dedication and willingness to learn and you’re your way up in the team.

You will also be responsible for:

·      Accurately measuring meal ingredients for the Chef de Partie.

·      Preparing meal ingredients, which includes seasoning of different meats as well as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.

·      You will be involved in cold, warm, and pastry sections

·      Receiving deliveries and verifying that all ordered items have been delivered and are of good quality.

·      Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that workstations are properly sanitized.

·      Plating and presenting meal items as per the Chef de Partie’s instructions.

Apply nhow if you meet the following requirements:

• Previous experience working as a Commis Chef or similar kitchen position
• Ideally an experience with either cold sections and/or patisserie
• Culinary school diploma is an advantage
• Basic food handling and preparation knowledge
• Familiarity with health and safety kitchen rules and regulations
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Attention to detail
• Team player
• Must be able to communicate in English language.
