Job Scope

Cycas Hospitality is looking for a full-time Director of Group Accounting & Reporting function within the finance department; coordinating the services provided to 3rd parties, reporting to the CFO (based in Amsterdam) and lead a team of 35 people, with 5 direct reports.

Hours: 40 hrs per week

Location: Amsterdam. Hybrid / flexible role however expectation is to be majority office based (remote working is not an option)

Annual Leave: 25 days off (plus bank holiday)

We provide accounting to entities in  7 countries through Europe ( UK -FR- NL – BE- CH – DK – DE ), supported by local team and external advisors.

Main responsibilities

Group Accounting, Tax & Compliance

  • Monitor and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings for internal and external counterparties.
  • Own the COA and Month-end Close calendar
  • Oversee the operation of the accounting department to ensure effective processes and achievement of contractual deadlines.
  • Establish, introduce and monitor way of working within the department to ensure timely and high quality deliverables.
  • Maintain and describe policies and procedures to comply with legal requirement,  company policies and industry standards.
  • Guarantee the alignment of operational policy and procedure through regions and hotels.
  • Coordinate external advisors around tax and compliance matters and share with relevant internal department any significant change in regulation with impact on the business
  • Support other department in assessing financial, fiscal and compliance implications of non-financial processes and initiatives
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis, requested by C-level or relevant Operational people.
  • Collaborate daily with the other department within the finance team (controlling and FP&A) to ensure alignment in processes and accurate data flow.
  • Understand key concepts of direct and indirect tax in foreign jurisdictions where the company has  interest and coordinate the communication with tax advisors for the purpose of the loca tax compliance
  • Provide observations and recommendations to operational issues

Project management & Continuous improvements

  • Have sufficient knowledge of all processes leading to entries in the GL to judge and propose process optimization.
  • Promote and facilitate trainings for on property and off property people around accounting & finance matters and SOPs
  • Take part on any new project, including pre-opening an/or take-over of new properties within the region, supporting the discovery phase but also the set up of all the financial systems on site.
  • Support hotel management and controlling department to identify critical issues in the hotel financial process and develop action plans to mitigate them.
  • Continuously work on digitalizing and automatizing data processing, with the support of existing or new tools, aiming to reduce repetitive manual work.

Team management

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals recruited through Europe: ensure the quality of their job and at the same time motivate the team to excellence and results.
  • Manage the resources in order to maximise the profitability of the department in line wih the generated revenues of the year
  •  Develop and extend the skills of the team, involving the colleagues in special projects and ad hoc analysis, based on individual skills and interest.

Requirements 

  • Strong analytical skills: data oriented, striving for accuracy and critical thinking .
  • At least 10 years of experience in accounting and/or controlling
  • Strong communication skills, capable to mitigate conflicts and influence changes.
  • Experience with  local GAAP & fiscal framework
  • Experience with IFRS
  • Familiarity with fast growing international companies.
  • Solid experience in leading a team
  • Dynamic mindset to drive changes and improvement and not scared to take on new challenges and projects.
  • Fluent communication in English. Any language ( French, Dutch, German) is a plus
  • Knowledge of the main hotel processes, familiarity with USALI and PMS systems is a plus
