Front office in a hotel
Front office is a department in a hotel, also known as the reception. In a hotel, which is an international environment, the term front office is commonly used. The front office department is typically open day and night. Especially in larger cities, guests can check in even during the night. Various roles operate within a front office department, including front office staff, receptionist, hostess, front office supervisor, front office manager, night receptionist, and assistant front office manager. Front office hotel duties involve welcoming guests, answering queries, handling check-ins and check-outs, and answering phones.
Front office internship
One of the most popular internships during a hotel management school program is a front office internship. We consistently offer over 75 different front office internships. From hotel management programs, both at the HBO and MBO levels, front office internship periods often commence in September or February. The student typically undergoes a 5-month internship, gaining valuable work experience. A school requirement is that the front office internship is S-BB certified. Most front office internships listed on Hotel Professionals are S-BB certified, but it's always advisable to verify this with the hotel. With a front office internship, you won't have as many responsibilities as a front office staff member. The primary goal is to learn and gain experience.
