At the heart of the Parliament Centre of The Hague, located at a prestigious spot opposite the Royal Palace Noordeinde, Hotel Indigo The Hague – Palace Noordeinde opened it's doors in 2018. Once occupied by “De Nederlandsche Bank”, our boutique hotel with 63 rooms, restaurant Stocks&Bonds, The Gold Bar and 2 meeting rooms/private dining borrows some of these unique elements in its décor. Each Hotel Indigo is unique, and delivers a vibrant, engaging and genuine boutique experience that gives guests a real flavour of the neighbourhood – delivering an experience that is truly reflective of the local culture, character and geography.
A day in the life of…
As a trainee member of the Front of house team, you will be the first and last point of contact for our guests, ensuring a smooth check in/out process for all. You'll focus on assisting the front office team while being responsible for our (additional) guest services to uplift their experience at Hotel Indigo The Hague - Palace Noordeinde.
Join me in exploring how a day in the life our our guest services trainee:
You'll be starting the day by joining the hand-over with our front office team to discuss Today's arrivals (Groups, elite members & VIP) and departures;
After that you catch up with your colleagues at F&B during breakfast and ensure breakfast is running smoothly;
You spotted a few guests that you recall providing service for and have a talk about their current stay (leaving an impression);
After that you walk our public areas and exterior to make sure it's impeccable and report anything to Housekeeping/AD;
You check you're inbox and see that you have the opportunity to lead Today's morning meeting and start preparing for it;
A quick check in the E-mail inbox for any on-going topics or complaints (post-stay) that need follow-up;
Communicate with Front Office and Housekeeping the allocated VIP rooms for Elite members & VIP's and start preparing the welcome amenities & later on a triple room check (only the best of the best is what we strive for);
Time to time you check with the front of house departments on their progress and offer any help where needed (teamwork);
Time for a break, enjoy!
All departes have gone, Housekeeping is up to speed and it's time for setting up the VIP-rooms;
You double check the lobby to see if it's impeccable (hydration station on point, all nice and clean);
You start greeting our arriving guests in the lobby and guide them to reception;
You have the hospitality mindset and offer help with luggage or provide (touristic or general) information;
Before calling it a day you check with the front of house teams to see if all is running smoothly;
Last but not least you make some courtesy calls to rooms who have checked-in already to see if we exceed expectations;
During the day other (administrative) tasks might be carried out depending on the need and time-urgency;
We're calling it a day for know and check what tomorrow will bring;

What do we need from you?
You must be currently taking an MBO or HBO degree in the field of hospitality studies.
Communication skills: You will be required to interact with guests, colleagues, and other stakeholders daily. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential to ensure effective communication and provide excellent customer service.
Organisational skills: You will be responsible for managing guest reservations, checking guests in and out, and ensuring the smooth flow of operations at the front desk. Good organizational skills will help you manage your workload efficiently.
Attention to detail: Inaccurate information or mistakes in bookings can lead to unhappy guests, lost bookings, and revenue. You should be detail-oriented to ensure that all guest information is accurate, and all bookings are processed efficiently.
Technical skills: You’ll have basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and internet use. Additionally, some experience with hotel management software systems such as Opera or Fidelio will be an added advantage.
