What does a waiter do?

As a waiter, you are the face of the restaurant and responsible for guest satisfaction. A waiter should be presentable, friendly, and well-groomed. The main tasks include serving guests in restaurants, bars, and meeting spaces. Before the start of service, you’ll handle mise en place duties and prepare tables. Additional tasks include taking reservations, welcoming and seating guests, taking and serving orders, and processing payments. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is a guest-focused mindset. Knowledge of wine, food, and effective communication with kitchen staff, such as the head chef and sous chef, is often required. This expertise can be gained through self-study or specialized training. Explore our extensive range of waiter jobs and apply directly for the position that suits you best.
